Where we are

Martinsburg sits about 22 miles north of Winchester, straight up I-81 in Berkeley County.

Typical properties

Historic in-town lots, established neighbourhoods, and newer subdivisions on the edge of town.

What we do most here

Weekly mowing, autumn leaf removal, and mulch and bed refreshes.

Just up the interstate, same growing season

Martinsburg is the Berkeley County seat and the biggest town in West Virginia's eastern panhandle, and it grows grass the same way Winchester does. Tall fescue dominates, the summers get hot and humid, and the same pattern shows up in lawns that have been cut too short for too long: shallow roots, thin turf, and crabgrass moving into the gaps by August. The maintenance approach is the same one we use across the state line.

What is different is the mix of properties. Martinsburg has a genuinely historic core, with older homes on mature streets where the lots are small and the trees are enormous, and it has newer development on the edges where the ground was graded by a builder and the topsoil is thin. Those two situations call for opposite things — the shaded in-town lawns need aeration and a shade-tolerant overseed, while the newer lots need aeration simply to break up the compaction left behind by construction.

The eastern panhandle season, and what moves

The season up here runs a touch behind Winchester in spring and finishes slightly earlier in autumn, so scheduling shifts a little across the year. Leaf drop is similar: heavy maples and oaks in the older neighbourhoods, running from early October into late November. As with everywhere else we work, one mid-season pass does not finish it — the second half of the leaves are still on the tree.

What we handle in Martinsburg

  • Weekly and biweekly mowing with edging, trimming and blow-off
  • Leaf cleanup, one-time or on a repeat schedule, with everything hauled away
  • Mulch application and bed edging, with the same detail we use in Winchester
  • Hedge and shrub trimming, including overgrown foundation plantings
  • Spring cleanups and autumn core aeration and overseeding

One practical note: we are a Virginia-based business working across the state line, so West Virginia jobs are grouped into the same trips as our Inwood and Charles Town work. That keeps the travel sensible and the pricing honest for everyone on the route.

Anything not covered here? Call or text (540) 292-7964 and we will give you a straight answer.

Do you work in West Virginia?

Yes. Martinsburg, Inwood and Charles Town are all part of our covered service area, and we group those visits together so the travel does not get priced into every single job.

How far is Martinsburg from your base?

About 22 miles north of Winchester, straight up I-81. It is a normal part of our week rather than a special trip.

Do you price West Virginia jobs differently?

The price is based on the work, not the state line. There is no separate travel surcharge for the towns listed in our service area.

My in-town lawn is mostly shade. What can be done?

Aeration and a shade-tolerant fescue overseed will make a real difference, and pruning to raise the canopy helps more than most people expect. Deeply shaded ground will never grow dense turf, and we will say so honestly.
